RESPONSIBILITY
As a family business, our values are shaped by tradition. For us, sustainability means thinking and planning for the long term.
We create jobs in our home region, provide vocational training and offer our employees attractive social benefits. We believe that businesses should be lead honestly, fair and with respect. Our code of conduct expounds the standards of behavior by which we manage the company and by which we as employees act in our work routine. This Code has primary importance in all our business activities. All contracts entered into by us should comply with it and no lesser standards should be accepted. This applies equally to employees, suppliers, and customers.
All these standards apply equally with regard to the quality of our products: We produce according to EU standards, REACH regulation and BSCI standard. Our flip*flop Originals and many other models are 100% vegan. We do not use leather or other animal materials and are working on a certification that excludes animal ingredients in adhesives to be able to guarantee the entire collection as vegan.
Each of our production facilities is continuously monitored for compliance with these standards, both by our own on-site staff and by independent organizations such as the Testing and Research Institute for Footwear Manufacturing (PFI).

WE LIVE & LOVE THE SHOE TRADITION OF OUR CITY
With the historic company headquarters NEUFFER AM PARK, a former shoe factory from 1894, we do not only have a unique office, but also contribute to the revitalization of the historic shoe location Pirmasens. It makes us proud to continue the shoe history of our region.
As part of the company, we run the HUMMEL&HUMMEL SCHUHMANUFAKTUR in Münchweiler near Pirmasens. There we maintain a small but extremely fine "Made in Germany" production of high-quality sneakers. In addition to premium products, sustainability and attachment to tradition have priority for us.
Arts & Culture:
From 1994 to 2019, we organized art exhibitions in our own premises at Neuffer am Park, which were free of charge for visitors and financed exclusively by sponsorship from the Bernd Hummel Holding and our partner companies.
All art exhibitions were realized with the know-how and organizational competence of our employees. The donations made by our guests at the vernissages went exclusively and in full to social institutions in the city and the region, such as the Kinderschutzbund and the Frauenhaus (women’s shelter) in Pirmasens. Due to the pandemic and the renovation of our premises, we have closed our art space. We are in the process of planning a new concept of our art engagement.
Home Sweet Home:
We are committed to supporting social projects—primarily in our hometown of Pirmasens—and regularly assist public institutions and organizations with in-kind and monetary donations. As a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Future Initiative, the West Palatinate Future Region, and Pirmasens City Marketing, we are dedicated to helping shape the economic development of the city, the region, and the state.
For his entrepreneurial, social, and cultural services, our CEO and owner Bernd D. Hummel was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate by Minister President Malu Dreyer in 2016. The city of Pirmasens honors the commitment of Bernd D. Hummel in 2008 with the City Badge of Honor in Gold and in 1998 with the City Badge of Honor in Silver for "outstanding services and appreciation of personality".
