Autumn brings a fresh start...
Our designer and product manager, Cristina, takes us on a journey into the world of colors, shapes, and materials, and shares more about the ideas and design process behind the new fall/winter collection.
Cristina, what trends inspired you this season?
"One of the most important trends this season are fluffy shoes- which matches perfectly our slippers. Teddy and faux fur in different lengths and colors, sometimes smooth, sometimes curly and fuzzy!
The soft and fluffy materials are currently seen on bags, hats, coats and shoes. A must-have for any stylish look, so to speak.
Of course, haptics also play a particularly important role in this trend. Our goal was to create a collection that makes you want to touch every single shoe right away. Sometimes I watch customers or my colleagues stroking the super soft skins almost subconsciously - then I know: mission accomplished! ☺"
What colors define the collection, and why?
"Soft natural tones like beige, cognac, taupe and as a new trend the almost white shade marshmallow.
My criterion for the color selection was the harmony between the colors and materials. In particular the question: in which colors do the furs look most premium?
You can see the successful result perfectly in the cross*fur 2, for example. It almost reminds me a little of the iconic Max Mara Teddy Icon Coat.
And, of course, trends play a decisive role in color selection.
It was also important to me that the colors radiate particularly coziness and warmth".
What does the design process look like? How long did it take?
"1. Fashion and trend research
2. Preparing basic plan of the collection (how many items in how many colors).
3. Material research
4. Drawing the styles
5. Choosing materials for the styles
"The design process alone takes about two months."
What four words would you use to describe the collection?
"Cozy. Stylish. Soft. Something for everyone."
What's new or special about the collection?
"New trend materials such as curly fur in different lengths and types, classic checks reinterpreted and the super exciting new "marble" pattern: a marbling that looks incredibly beautiful on the lush luxurious fur!
Furthermore, a footbed which is even more comfortable, thanks to so-called memory foam, which adapts to the shape of the foot. Plus, we optimized the fit of all styles.
When it comes to slippers, slides are always very popular. Those are styles with an open heel that you just slip into. But classic loafers and cool interpreted hut shoes are also in the collection.
Really new are booties that end below the ankle and combine sporty details with coziness, such as the " home*booty"
Which materials do you think will be the most prominent or important this winter?
"As I said, quite clearly: fake furs. In addition, corduroy, felt and still the perennial favorite sweat. Combined in one look, this creates exciting contrasts and a wonderful wintry feeling.
In my mind I wear an oversized cut corduroy two-piece of pants and blazer together with our pool*curly. Could it be any cooler? 😍. By the way, a huge trend this winter is XXL tailoring with very oversized cut long blazers."
Which piece from the collection is your personal favorite, and why?
"The slide*fur 2 tone! I love, love, love the pattern on the fur. It's so fresh and so pretty."
